Mother's Day picnic on the allotment. We have 7 children between three families! This was a great way to start the day!

Weeding

Time for a spot of weeding, it is so satisfying. I think the green manure has helped to keep the weeds down so far (except dandelions!)

Shallots!

We have growth! The shallotts are growing and so it the garlic. No action from the potatoes yet. We have been getting beds ready for peas and beans which we are starting off at home this year to avoid the baby plants being eaten by mice, again...

Big millipede

We had lots of small helpers doing the weeding this sunday, maybe it was because it was Mother's Day and they wanted to help, or maybe because we'd all been woken up really early with some cold toast and half a cup of lukewarm tea, ahhh the annual breakfast in bed! Worms were thin on the ground this morning but we found *loads* of millipedes, and this one was massive!

Flower planting committee

We have a bit of a dandelion situation but a flower bed has been allocated and the small people came and planted some seeds last sunday, we even saw a butterfly!

Three sisters planting

I think we got out plot a bit late in the season but we are all pleased with the fruits of our labours so far. Here's a shot of funner beans growing up a sweetcorn plant! The sweetcorns were very small but I have dried the kernals out to make popcorn!
